Newsletter November 2011
Non-attendance: Please contact us if your son is NOT going to attend on a Monday or Friday. Boys must attend unless for medical or personal reasons. Non-attendance should be intimated to G Pirie, A or J McIntosh.
Stoke: Due to lack of numbers, London 2011 has been cancelled. Deposits will be returned.
Uniform: Reminder to Company Section boys that trainers (unless black) are not acceptable on a Friday evening. White socks are also not acceptable. A high standard of dress is expected and boys not conforming will be asked to change their footwear.
Uniform can be purchased from Jennifer McIntosh on a Monday or Friday.
A reminder to boys that their hat, armband and jumper should all have their name on them.
Queen’s Badge: 17 senior boys successfully completed the Queen’s Badge Leadership Course at Badaguish in September. The boys are now working on completing their Queen’s Badge books in readiness for the Completion Course in Cullen in late February.
Numbers: The Company strength this session is as follows:
Anchor Boys:- 36 Junior Section:- 31 Company Section:- 105 Adults: 39
This gives us a total strength of 211 officers and boys.
Insurance: The Company recently sent a cheque for £2127 to cover the annual Boys’ Brigade insurance payment.
Buckie Rotary Club:- Our thanks go to Buckie Rotary Club for the recent gift of £500.
A number of senior boys supported the recent 6 Harbour Walk by acting as stewards/marshalls throughout the day.
Moray Marathon: Boys working towards their Queen’s Badge recently helped at the Moray Marathon. For their help and support the Company received a cheque for £80 towards Company funds.
Newsletter Sponsorship: A number of local businesses sponsor both the newsletter and “Chevron”. Any individual or Company interested in renewing their advert or wishing to place a new advert should contact A McIntosh.
Enrolment Parade: see anouncement at the end of Newsletter
Enrolment Card / Annual Service Badge: Boys will receive their card and service badge by the end of November. Boys are asked to take care of both items as they cannot be replaced.
Band Beginners: Band beginners will commence on Tuesday 8th November in the S & W Church hall - times will be confirmed on Friday 4th November. Boys in primary 6+ are eligible for the bugle and boys in secondary S1+, for the drums. Come along and try it!
Bugles: A number of BUGLES have still to be returned from boys who no longer wish to play in the band. It would be appreciated if bugles could be returned as soon as possible – they are required for the beginners!

Weekend Camps 2012: A total of £25 must be paid by the 16th December.
Roller Bowl: Boys in primary 4+ are eligible and an information sheet is enclosed.
Armistice Parade: Boys of the Anchor Boy/Junior Sections will NOT parade on Sunday 13th November. Company Section will be informed of arrangements.
Coffee Morning: Reminder that ticket money and “offers of help” sheet should be returned to Jennifer McIntosh a.s.a.p. HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!
Gymnastics: Gymnastics for Company Section boys will start on Wednesday 9th November from 6.15 – 7.15pm.
Battalion Cross Country Competition: Junior and Company Section boys, interested in taking part in the Battalion Cross Country Competition on Saturday 5th November should complete the registration form (see enclosed) and return to A McIntosh or G Pirie by Friday 4th November. Bus leaves from the South & West Church hall at 1.15pm. Parents welcome.
Tuesday Club: A reminder that the Tuesday Club is open to all boys in the Company Section. Club Competitions will be held on Tuesday 8th, 15th, 22nd & 29th November.
NATIONAL COMPETITIONS
Masterteam: The Company will go to Stonehaven on Saturday 19th November to compete against 2nd Forfar, 25th Stirling, 3rd Glenrothes, 8th Stirling & 42 Aberdeen. The Company team will be chosen shortly from boys who have expressed interest.
National 5 Aside Football: The Senior Team will be at home on the 12th November and will be competing against companies from 6/8 Dundee, 4th Dunfermline, 3rd Inverness, 26th Stirling & 25th Stirling. Boys selected will be informed of arrangements.
The Junior Team (U15) will be at home on Saturday 10th December and will compete against companies from 4th Kirkcaldy, 1st Scone, 1st Kinross, 3rd Inverness & 1st Culloden.

Anchor Boy Party: The Anchor Boy Party will be held in the South & West Church hall
on Monday 12th December. Boys! Start looking for your partner now! Information will be available with the December newsletter.
1st Buckie Fleeces: Fleeces for Junior and Company Section boys are now available at a subsidised price of £10. They can be ordered / purchased on a Friday evening or at the forthcoming Coffee Morning.

The Annual Section photographs will be taken on:
Anchor Boys – Monday 31st October.
Junior/Company Sections – Friday 4th November.
Boys should be in full uniform and school trousers should be worn.

Enrolment Parade
The Enrolment Parade will be held on Sunday 30th October in the South & West Church at 11.30am.
Junior & Company Sections are asked to report to Cluny playground for 10.45am. All boys should be dressed in uniform – dark socks, black shoes and dark school trousers. Ear rings should be removed.
Anchor Boys should be at the Church hall by 11.00am. All boys should be dressed in uniform – dark socks, black shoes, dark school trousers and red sweatshirt – ear rings removed.
Parents and Friends are welcome to attend the Service after which, weather permitting, the boys will march to West Cathcart Street where the boys will be dismissed.
