Newsletter -January 2012-
Junior Section: Please note that the Junior Section will continue to meet from 6 – 7pm. It is important that ALL boys are prompt and ready to go into the hall READY to start at 6pm. Leading up to Christmas we had a number of boys “wandering in” after 6pm. It would be appreciated if your son could be in the building no later that 5.50pm. Thanks!
Anchor Boy Party: Thanks to all who made the Anchor Boy Party such a success. The party was attended by over 70 boys and girls and there was even a visit from Santa! Thanks to Gareth Mair and his “D J GAR” Disco.
Balloon Race:
Many thanks to those who supported the recent Balloon Race. The total sum of approximately £1200 was raised for Company funds.
There has been 4 returns: The furthest travelled (returned within 3 days) was from an address in Denmark with 2 return slips. The following day a 2nd envelope was received from Poland.
Winner of the race (£100 voucher) was: Newlands, Provost Reid Crescent, Buckie
2nd Place (£50 Meal Voucher): Campbell, East Carlton Terrace. Buckie. 3rd Place (£50 Fuel Voucher): Thomson, Redburn Drive, Buckie.
National 5 Aside Football: The Under 15 team will be travelling to East Kilbride in late January. We wish them well in the Scottish Semi-final.
Company Photographs: Company photographs that were ordered have now all been delivered. Further photographs can be ordered from the Banffshire Advertiser or contacting Jennifer McIntosh.
Badges: Boys in all sections are reminded that they must ensure that they have all their badges. Please don’t wait until the week of the Inspection to replace badges lost! Badges for 2011/2012 will be updated in early February.
Masterteam: David Chappell, Shaun Wilson, Scott Stewart and Patrick Foley will be representing the Company in the Scottish semi-final at Dundee on Saturday 14th January. We wish them well.
Chevron: The magazine will be available with the February Newsletter.
Superstars: Well done and thanks to all the competitors and the helpers for making the evening a great success. A full report will appear in Chevron.
Roller Bowl: The Company had a very successful evening at Inverness on the 9th December. A total of 106 adults and boys enjoyed the evening. The boys are to be congratulated on their behaviour. Full report will appear in Chevron.
Pancake Tea: The Company will be having a Pancake Tea on Saturday 10th March 2012. Information to follow in February newsletter.
Queen’s Men: 17 young men will shortly be attending a completion course at Cullen to “sign off” their Queen’s Badge. We wish them well.
Overseas Appeal: Boys are reminded that the closing date for the appeal is Friday 9th March 2012. Reminder that boys must remember to put their names on the “jar of pennies”.
Inspection 2012: This session, the Company will be having only ONE Annual Display. All sections will be on parade on Friday 23rd March. The decision to reduce it to one has been a difficult one to make but due to staffing shortage, reduced number of Junior Section boys and the pressure of work for a number of staff. Rehearsal times will be announced in the February Newsletter. This will probably result in only TWO tickets per family. The decision has not been taken lightly.
Weekend Camp 2012: Reminder that the camp must be paid in full (£48.00) by 16th March. Pocket money can also be paid in. - maximum of £15.
Battalion Swimming: An information sheet is attached - boys should complete and return it to Jennifer McIntosh by Friday 13th January.
Sponsors: Individuals and local businesses interested in sponsoring the Company are asked to contact A McIntosh. Spaces in Chevron, the company magazine and the monthly newsletter are available.
Summer Activities: A number of boys have asked about the possibility of going hill-walking in May/June. We will follow up this suggestion and get back to the boys after Easter. We also hope to repeat the Watersports Day in June.
Ladies Dinner: The Annual Ladies Dinner will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, 21 – 23rd February 2012 in either The Old Coachhouse or The Marine Hotel.
Information sheet will be enclosed with the February Newsletter.
BATTALION PARADE
Junior & Company Sections will be on parade in Banff on Sunday
