Company Administration: Enrolment, Parental Consent and Subscription Forms are enclosed with this newsletter and must be completed for every boy who wishes to be registered with 1st Buckie for 2008/2009. Please ensure that forms are completed and returned to Jennifer McIntosh by Tuesday 28th August.
Watersports: 45 adults and boys enjoyed their day at Loch Morlich in June.
Anchor Boy/Junior Section Fun Evening/Buckie:Boys who attended should have received a certificate of attendance. If not, contact J McIntosh.
Queen’s Badge: 11 senior boys are working towards their Queen’s Badge this session. As part of the Community element of the badge, a number of boys have already been helping at the Corrieyarack Challenge in Kincraig, Findochty 5K, Buckie Junior Jog & Portsoy Boat Festival. Buckie Flower Show, The Moray Marathon, Aviemore 10K and Buckie 10K are other events where boys will be offering assistance.
Brigade Leadership: Boys working towards their Queen’s badge will be attending the Area Leadership Course at Badaguish during the weekend of 27th/28th September. Information will be circulated to the boys nearer the time. A cost of £15 per boy, including transport will be required.
DVD: DVD’s of the Inspection are available - cost £5. To date, a total of £290 has been raised for Company funds.

Summer 2009: The Company (Pr 6 upwards) is considering
“Chevron”: The Compan magazine will be available in early October.
Tuesday Club: The Tuesday Club is open to all boys in the Company Section (Pr7+).
Subs: An information sheet with the subscription arrangements is enclosed with this newsletter.
Newsletter Sponsorship: A number of local businesses sponsor both the newsletter and “Chevron”. Any individual or Company interested in renewing their advert or wishing to place a new advert should contact A McIntosh.
Battalion Events: The Battalion AGM is on Sunday 31st August. A list of events for session 2008/9 will be available in September.
Badges: On gaining an award, there will be no cost for certificates and badges. Replacements will be charged at the full price. The majority of badges cost £1.
Jumble Sale: The recent Jumble Sale raised £125. It has been decided that the Company will not be holding a Jumble Sale this session.
Scottish Competitions: The Company will be entering the following Scottish Competitions: 5 aside Football (U15/Senior), Masterteam and Chess. Information will be available in October.
Band Beginners: Bugle / Drum tuition will be offered at the beginning of October.
Brigade Council: Alan McIntosh & Gordon Pirie will be attending Brigade Council in Tulliallan from 5th – 7th September.
“Duck Race”: After the successful “Duck Race” last session it has been decided to repeat the exercise this session. Please save your bottle corks.
Anchor Boy Party:
Thanks to all who made the Anchor Boy Party such a success. The party was attended by over 100 boys and girls and there was even a visit from Santa! Thanks to Daniel Duncan and his mobile Disco (looking for a booking! Contact Daniel)
Somerfield:
The Company has been allocated 4 days for “bag packing” and the sum raised so far is £1561 with 2
days still to go. A final total will follow in the February newsletter.

Queen’s Men:
10 young men will shortly be attending a completion course at Cullen to “sign off” their Queen’s Badge. We wish them well.
Overseas Appeal:
Boys are reminded that the closing date for the appeal is Friday 7th March 2008. Boys opting for the “jar of pennies” should remember to put their name on the jar(s).
Leadership 111 Course:
Boys in their 4th year in the Company Section will, on Sunday 27th January, attend a Grade 111 Leadership Course in
Inspection 2008:
This session, the Company will be holding TWO Annual Inspections: Anchor/Junior on Thursday 13th March and Company Section on 14th March.
Weekend Camp 2008:
Reminder that the camp must be paid in full (£40.00) by 7th March. Pocket money can also be paid in. - maximum of £15.

Memorabilia Weekend:
An excellent display of memorabilia stretching back over the 60 years. The collection taken throughout the weekend raised the sum of £165 for Company funds.
Enrolment Service: Our thanks to parents, friends and the boys who made the Enrolment Service/Parade a day to remember. The behaviour and turn out of boys were both commented upon by a number of people – a credit to their parents.
Pancake Tea:
The provisional date for the Pancake Tea is Saturday 23rd February. Further information will be available in the January Newsletter.
“Joseph” Competition:
Congratulations to Nathan Duncan who won the Scottish “Joseph” colouring in competition.
BP Funding:
The Company recently received £500 from BP Offshore. Our thanks to Malcolm McIntosh for thinking of the Company when nominations were being asked for.
Buckie 10k Donation:
The Company recently received a donation of £100 for helping at the recent 10k event.
Superstars Competition:
Boys in the Company Section are encouraged to participate in the annual Superstars Competition. The event will take place on the 14th December in the
Junior Section – 14th December:
The Junior Section WILL meet on the 14th December in the high school hall and the evening will take the form of a squad competition. Uniform and PE kit required.
Company Section Awards:
The Company is currently converting to the new Discover Programme for P7 – Queen’s Badge. The new badges have arrived and are now replacing the existing badges.
60th Anniversary Gifts:

Coffee Morning:
A big thanks to those who supported the recent Coffee Morning. A gross total of £1036 was made.
Ladies Dinner:

Battalion Cross Country Competition:
Congratulations to the boys in both sections who retained the overall winners trophy.
World
This year, boys will be issued with labels and they are encouraged to collect jars of “pennies”. Boys collecting will be awarded a certificate for their efforts.
Tuesday Club:
A reminder that the Tuesday Club is open to all boys in the Company Section. Last night of competitions will be Tuesday 4th December.
Gymnastics:
The Company is encouraged with the number of boys attending the weekly gymnastics class. Boys of P7+ are welcome to attend.
Masterteam:
The Company will be in New Deer on Saturday 1st December to embark on the Masterteam trail. Teams from Inverness,
National 5 Aside Football:
Boys in the under 15 age group will be travelling to Larbert on Saturday 8th December. Good luck!
Somerfields:
Boys in Pr7 / S1 will be asked to give ONE period of time for “bag packing” Older boys will be asked to give TWO sessions. A master sheet will be on display at BB activities and boys are asked to pencil in a time convenient to them. An information sheet will follow.
Anchor Boy Party:
The Anchor Boy Party will be held in Buckie Community High School assembly hall on Monday 10th December. 6.15 – 8.15pm
January 2007:
The Anchor Boys will restart on Monday 7th January and the Junior & Company Sections will restart on Friday 11th January. A newsletter will be circulated in early January.
